Design

When it comes to designing car parking equipment, there’s more to consider than meets the eye. From bespoke solutions that maximize space and functionality to ensuring compliance with Australian Standards and integrating cutting-edge technology like EV charging, every detail matters. For architects, the stakes are even higher, with safety, efficiency, and legal obligations like the Design and Building Practitioners Act in NSW shaping projects.

A Customised Solution for An Unique Project

Every project is different, PowerUp specializes in creating bespoke car parking equipment tailored to the unique requirements of your job. Whether you’re working with a limited footprint, a sloping terrain, our customized designs ensures you get the best parking solution for your project.

Customization goes beyond simply fitting the equipment into the available space—it’s about meeting the functional requirements of the development. We ensure maximum efficiency without compromising on safety or aesthetics.

Our expertise extends to integrating special features like EV charging stations, automated systems, and advanced technologies such as the Turntable Pin-Gear Drive System. By collaborating closely with architects and developers, we ensure our designs align with both your vision and Australian compliance requirements, creating innovative parking solutions that elevate the functionality and value of your project.

Australian Standards; Ensuring Compliance

Navigating the strict standards in NSW is a key part of designing and installing car parking equipment. At PowerUp, we prioritize compliance with Australian Standards, including AS 1418.8, which governs the design, manufacture, and operation of car hoisting equipment, and AS 5124, which specifies requirements for mechanical car parking systems. PowerUp ensures that all our solutions, from car stackers to turntables, meet the highest benchmarks for safety, durability, and performance.

Car Turntable Design

At the heart of every PowerUp car turntable is our cutting-edge Pin-Gear Drive system, offering a far superior alternative to traditional friction drive systems. Specifically designed for low-speed, heavy-duty applications, the Pin-Gear Drive ensures smooth operation, even under demanding conditions.

Furthermore, its robust design excels in environments with high dust levels and limited lubrication, making it the perfect choice for maintaining reliability in tough settings. As a result, our car turntable delivers long-term durability and consistent performance, enhancing both convenience and safety.

Car Lift Design

When specifying vehicle hoists or platform lifts designed for personnel, the relevant standard is AS1418.8.

In simple terms, AS1418.8 has never permitted and currently does not permit passengers on a car hoist. It explicitly allows only an authorized operator—who, by definition, is not considered a passenger. This standard addresses the general design, components, testing, and operation for car hoist, including details on load ratings, load combinations, construction, inspection, and maintenance.

Platform lifts and hoists governed by AS1418.8 are designed to be operated strictly by authorized personnel. Excluding untrained visitors from using them. This standard permits only the driver to remain in the vehicle during operation. This ensures safety by requiring all operators to be properly trained. Unauthorized use is further prevented through access controls like codes, cards, or keys.

Unlike lifts with enclosed cabins, a car hoist under AS1418.8 typically features an open platform. This design is allowed because the control button must be continuously pressed (dead man switch) while the user is seated in the vehicle.
